I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with eighteen years of experience working as a nurse in healthcare. I began my journey as a registered nurse working in the field of women’s health. I later earned my degree as a Master’s Prepared Nurse, specializing in nursing education as I began my passion for educating future nurses. I then continued my education to obtain a Post-Masters in Advanced Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Maryville University. During my time working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, I have been privileged to work in an array of clinical settings with several outstanding Psychiatrists within my community. I have trained and worked in the areas of child/adolescent psychiatry, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, adult inpatient psychiatry, and psychiatric urgent care services. I have also continued my passion for education by teaching Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner students regularly. I strongly support the combined approach of psychotherapy and medications in treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, psychotic disorders, and mood disorders. I value the importance of health and wellness as an integral part of mental health treatment while utilizing supportive therapy and encouraging yoga and mindfulness meditation as a means to achieve this.Through the client relationships I’ve been privileged to share over the years, I’m constantly reminded of the resilience of the human spirit and believe recovery is possible through strength-building, meaningful connections, and honoring one’s own potential for growth. I believe there are multiple pathways to healing and strive to meet my clients where they are on their journey to recovery and wellness.
