Caregiver for the 500+ homeless cats at the sanctuary. Primary tasks include feeding, medicating, cleaning, and working with volunteers. Proficient in giving subcutaneous fluids, subcutaneous injections, oral meds, insulin, restraining, giving natural and PET enemas, and working with coworkers on behavioral issues. Received Employee of the Quarter my first quarter working at Best Friends.

Worked as an au pair in Amstelveen, The Netherlands, for one year, and in Australia for two families (5/6 months each). Responsibilities were primarily childcare and general household help (cleaning, cooking, helping with pets, etc). I also helped out with my Brisbane host mom's store, Makeup and Glow, by packing orders, doing stock, and pricing items.

Assisted a M.D./Ph.D. student with his research on mouse models of diabetes and hypertension using common lab techniques. Experience with animal handling, calculating metabolic measurements (including food and water intake, weight, body fat, percent body fat, ECHO MRI measurements, and urine output), organ collection, and injecting the mice with sedatives, medications, etc. Presented a poster of my own research at the Wright State University Celebration of Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities symposium.

Answered phones, scheduled patients, pulled charts, checked in/out patients, and did general office work. Also applied therapies such as diathermy, EMS and decompression therapy to the patients. Filed and put up patient x-rays.

Duties included calling Wright State alumni and updating their personal information using a computer system, informing them of recent news of the school, and encouraging them to donate through the annual giving fund. During my time at the phonathon I raised over $17,000 dollars for the school, with 44% of my donor’s upgrading from the amount the previously pledged, making my average pledge $78.01 per donor. I won the ‘Top Caller’ award my first quarter working, and also received ‘Employee of the Month’ in February.
