Co-Director/Producer/Editor
CurrentIn 2011, Danielle convinced film and post-production expert, James Sherwood, to join her on an adventure, leading the way as a journalist and producer to secure a story about child labour in Nicaragua, which aired on Dateline SBS. Since then, they have won eight film festival awards for categories, such as best underwater world film, best environmental journalism, audience choice, and an Sylvia Earle Ocean Conservation Award. They have worked on many documentaries (up to 30 minutes long) about protecting the land and the sea, working with leading NGOs, such as the Australian Marine Conservation Society, The Wilderness Society, WWF-Australia, Taronga Zoo, Nature Conservation Council of NSW and PEW Charitable Trusts. They have also worked with other groups, such as one of Australia's biggest supermarkets, IGA, specifically on their Family Program videos, which support the voice of sustainable farmers. Most recently, they released their first feature documentary, The Map to Paradise. The film enjoyed its first private-avant premiere at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, where the filmmakers were invited to present the film to HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco. As a part of the outreach campaign, they organised around 125 semi-theatrical screenings in Australia and New Zealand, as well as an alternative release by Event Cinemas. The documentary has aired on National Geographic, Al Jazeera, and on public broadcast, including in Australia, China, Greece and Italy. It has also played on digital platforms, such as Sundance Now and Facebook's Oculus. In 2018, I was invited to judge the short film prize for the Sydney Latin American Film Festival.
Various - Video Production, Writing And Media
Freelance/Volunteer Work: Danielle co-produced and directed stories on sustainable farming and fisheries; made a short film on WWF's work in Western Australia; worked as a story editor on WWF-Australia's Heart of Borneo educational micro documentary; and was the scriptwriter, post-producer and assistant editor on a documentary about marine turtles called 'Sending the Gungu Home,' a winner of the Aurora Short Film Festival, 2013. The documentary aired on Aurora Television, and featured at a number of film festivals and at the Ben & Jerry's Open Air Cinemas, 2014. Danielle has also filmed and edited a number of marketing and report videos, including for their first ever interactive annual report app.
