03/04/09 The second phase of the Capital One layoff is coming to a close on April 3rd. I am currently seeking new employment if anyone has any leads on new underwriting or operations positions. 11/07/08 They notified us this week that they are shutting down the Overland Park location in multiple phases. The majority of staff is being laid off in December but I am staying on with the second phase until April. It's very sad to see such a huge opportunity crumble. I sincerely hope that we all will be able to find new positions soon.

I was the Operations Manager for the Non Prime mortgage division with First Horizon Home Loans in Overland Park, KS. This was a new division for the company so all process and procedures were created that were specific to this division. I was responsible for overseeing the processing, underwriting and closing of real estate mortgage loans. I directly managed up to 9 supervisors and/or managers. We were a national call center of 125+ employees that supported over 300 + retail and wholesale sales staff. In addition to the duties of the operations manager position, I was also the project manager for the division. This responsibility included being a liason with our corporate office for our division as well as overseeing program updates, releases and roll out trainings.

I was the underwriting manager for the western regional office located in Denver, CO for a new wholesale division. Since this office was new to the company, I was responsible for creating the process and procedures for the department. I managed 35+ staff members directly overseeing both the underwriting department but also the setup staff as well. This was an extremely busy office that supported approximately 20 outside sales account executives. We underwrote all loan types including government, conforming and specialty niche products that were very attractive in the broker community.

This was a small wholesale office located in Denver, CO. I started with the company in 1999 as an underwriter and within one year became the underwriting manager of approximately 11 staff members. We underwrote mainly conforming loans and a small portion were governement loans. I obtained my DE for FHA loans at this location.

I began my career in the mortgage industry at this company in Denver, CO. I was in multiple roles for this wholesale office. I began in post closing when I started as the receptionist and was promoted to closer, then to the Broker Coordinator position that eventually transitioned into the underwriter position. The company merged with another company prior to my leaving and shut down the office that I worked.
