Under the general direction of the Project Director of the Achievement,Retention, Commitment to Higher Education Success (ARCHES) Program, this position facilitates the retention and graduation of college students with disabilities.

Volunteers of America is a non-profit human services organization committed to serving people in need, strengthening families, and building communities. VOALA provides a variety of social services to Los Angeles area communities such as Head Start programs, Upward Bound college prep programs, veterans’ services, homeless shelters, low-income housing program as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation. As part of the Evaluation team, the Research Analyst supports program evaluation efforts from planning stages through execution of the evaluation and testing processes.

I support students who are interested in obtaining post secondary education in navigating the resources and services provided by the institution they attend to help them achieve their goals. I am also part of the fundraising team to create new ideas that will generate revenue for our program site.

I work closely with the accounting department and other program coordinators to reconcile revenue each month. Finally, I perform queries and submit reports as requested by the Chief Development Officer or Director of Accounting.

The Office of Institutional Research and Assessment exists to establish, plan, organize, and promote effective program assessment policy, practices, and procedures. It does this by providing data, resources, training, and consultations that are designed to assist academic and student life departments to succeed in assessing their educational effectiveness and to provide the University with useful data for strategic decision-making. • Communicate with university departments about their survey requests• Coordinate the development, input, and implementation of surveys• Analyze survey data for all surveys conducted through the office• Assist in developing reports for departments related to survey and other data results

This is a self-study of the sociology department at California State University, Dominguez Hills. It is part of a six year process toward measuring quality and effectiveness of the degree granting programs (BA and MA) by examining life in the sociology department specifically focused on student experiences. My responsibilities included data analysis and report generation.

Chaffey Community College launched the Opening Doors to Excellence program in 2008. This two semester program is designed to increase probationary students’ chances of succeeding in college. It includes a “College Success”course, taught by a counselor, which provides basic information on study skills and the requirements of college. As part of the course, students are expected to complete five visits to “Success Centers,” where their assignments, linked to the College Success course, cover skills assessment, learning styles, time management, use of resources, and test preparation.
