Since taking on my first management role, I've thoroughly enjoyed and thrived on the responsibility such a position commands. The marketing manager role at BM Catalysts involves a wide variety of duties; the main being having the responsibility of upholding the BM Catalysts brand and overseeing all the TTL marketing activities the department/company undertakes. In this role I am continually developing project management and leadership skills, handling multiple projects at a time, whilst also building on professional creativity skills. The role involves writing copy for press releases and company literature, and using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign to design print and online advertisements/visuals. I am the main contact with the Marketing/PR Agency; managing and critiquing all projects undertaken within a campaign. It is my job to ensure brand identity is consistently the best it can be, and supportive of company values. I am solely responsible for organising the company's participation in UK and overseas Automotive Exhibitions, including Automechanika Frankfurt, Equip Auto Paris, Automechanika Birmingham and various customer trade evenings across the UK.

Keen to broaden my experience and skills base, I took up an opportunity to work as a Buyer. This role provided me with a real understanding of being at the other end of a business transaction - the customer rather than the supplier - and allowed me to develop new and important skills which I take forward in my career...I learnt the skill of negotiation in a professional setting; securing business agreements that both maintain solid relationships with suppliers and accommodate the company’ budgets and cost cutting strategies. My knowledge of Supply Chain Management developed, and I learnt the processes involved in the ‘Just in Time’ production strategy that the business adopted. The roles required working closely with other departments such as Finance, Production, Marketing and Customer Services to ensure the direct and indirect sourcing I undertook reinforced the overall organisational values and objectives.Opportunities this role presented included attending meetings with suppliers all over the world; visiting China, Germany, Italy, France and the UK to cultivate business relationships with a wide variety of cultures and gaining a thorough understanding of our suppliers’ businesses and processes.

I joined the Graduate Programme at United Biscuits, located in Hayes, and gained invaluable experience in the dynamic world of FMCG. I worked in the Corporate Communications department, focusing on Social Media and the United Biscuits Corporate Brand, whilst also supporting Internal Communications. Examples of projects I undertook during this role are the redevelopment of the Graduate Programme Website (www.ubgraduates.com), and establishing the United Biscuits as social business, via Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+. I was responsible for monitoring UB and all its brands within the online environment, and producing weekly reports for Brand Managers, using Social Media Monitoring tools. I was responsible for hosting social media steering meetings involving all Brand Managers across the business, providing detailed and constructive feedback on what’s been happening on the business’ digital platforms and sharing best practice examples.Alongside the day-to-day roles, I also took part in Graduate modules, and volunteered as a 'Google Guru' during a business transformation project of switching internal communications systems to Google+.
