General purpose (currently full-stack) programmer with a solid theoretical background. I enjoy solving the challenges of disparate distributed systems, and exploring the possibilities of the modern web. I believe modern web & server work is unfairly stigmatised as cheap or easy, due to the barrier-lowering effect of an explosion of Javascript frameworks, and that it is quite possible to apply the tools and concepts from decades of prior computer science research, to make it well-controlled, effective, and maintainable.I am interested in programming, especially client/server programming, that embraces standards and employs proven techniques. I promote web standards and try my utmost not to resort to closed solutions if there is a better one. I do not believe that closed gardens benefit anyone except the garden owners, and can often actively harm the greater CS community.Programming isn't about language choice, it's about problem solving, and the main tool is the algorithm. Learning a new language just means applying the same techniques in a different way. As such, I look forward to learning and using many more languages in future, and applying lessons learned from prior ones. The more you know, the better.I seek work that provides a challenge, in an environment that fosters individual capabilities. I am not interested in simply being a "code monkey". I am *extremely* passionate about my work, but only if I find it interesting. If I am passionate, then work is a joy. If I am bored, then work is hell. I believe there is enough interesting work out there to avoid boredom.I strive always to be efficient. I consider myself mature enough to understand that being wrong is good, because then you can learn something. I want to work with people smarter than me, so I can learn from them. And I want to work in an environment that gives me the freedom to work efficiently, constantly, and without distraction.
