Provided strategic and project focused design leadership for the San Diego office. Participated in collaborative design efforts across all LPA locations in California and Texas. Led integrated design teams with a collaborative, informed design approach to find creative, thoughtful solutions in a variety of market segments. Consistently led client presentations, mentored staff, directed research efforts, and participated in project pursuits. Led effort to move away from concept design in SketchUp to modeling in Revit and Rhino throughout the design process. Also adjusted workflow to utilize in-house staff to produce renderings in Enscape and Lumion. Directed teams and worked in production to complete project deliverables from concept to construction documents. Worked with project managers to assist with issues during permitting and construction phases. Participated in business development in partnership with LPA internal marketing team and external partner teams to produce RFP responses, work though design-build efforts, craft award submissions, direct project photography, generate scope of services and assist with negotiation. Assembled presentations and attended interviews with LPA team. Attended business development events throughout San Diego focused mostly on civic, cultural, and higher education sectors.

Partner and Principal Architect in charge of Design and Marketing with additional focus on project management for multiple commercial projects. Daily work with clients on programming, scope assessment and project status updates, as well as coordinating with sub consultants to provide clients full sets of documents for construction. This includes work with cost estimators, PME engineers, structural engineers, landscape architects, abatement engineers, civil engineers, and artists.Additional responsibilities include creating preliminary feasibility studies and reviewing cost estimates while creating conceptual designs, as well as determining recommendations of building materials and technologies best suited for each project during schematic and design development phases. Throughout each project I supervise interior design and furniture selection and oversee the production of construction documents. After design phases are complete, I manage bidding, construction administration and project closeout.

Managed a variety of commercial projects while working as part of a studio team to complete drawing sets and specifications. As a project manager, I reported directly to the Principal in Charge and participated in all phases of design and construction. During construction, I acted as the main conduit between client and contractor, tracking all project correspondence and managing project control paperwork, such as change orders, schedules, RFIs and submittals.Led an office-wide conversion to Autodesk Revit in 2007, learning the software with a team of four in order to set up template files. We also established a set of BIM protocols to keep documentation standardized across all projects.

Worked in the field and in the design studio for this design/build firm. As a construction team, we built all the projects that the office designed. This allowed for better supervision of detailing and faster design process. I was on a team that designed and did general construction on high end contemporary residences. Design sketches I produced were shared and reviewed, then used in the field. Once in the field we could quickly troubleshoot any issues by making adjustments for unforeseen existing conditions or conflicts.

Interned under project managers and the Principal in Charge. I created models and drawings for client presentations and learned how to create projects that met the client’s needs, while being heavily influenced by the surrounding landscape. This experience began to teach me how to create a design that is inherently sustainable. At this firm we each made an effort to build at least one detail on all our projects. It was this first hands on experience that helps me even today when designing to thoughtfully consider constructability, durability, sustainably and aesthetics in every aspect of my work.
