Currently retired, now seeking new challenges and opportunities to service the community at large either as a mentor, not-for-profit organization board member or volunteer. I have more than forty years of experience as a lawyer in private practice primarily with Ogilvy Renault (now known as Norton Rose) and senior management of large multinational corporations (Unisys Corp. and CGI Inc.). During my private practice years, I was consistently recognized among the world’s leading technology lawyers in the following publications: Chambers Global, Lexpert/ALM, Best Lawyers in Canada, Legal Media Group and International Who’s Who.My career enabled me to bring international experience in complex, mission critical information technology projects as I practiced in both the private and public sectors in Canada, the U.S., South America, and Europe. Throughout my years in private practice, I represented suppliers and users, including financial institutions, retail operations, government entities and manufacturing companies, in a wide range of transactions, including outsourcing, systems integration, licensing, software distribution, joint ventures, transfer of technology, sale and procurement of information technology products and services. Shortly before my retirement, in my decade-long role as Vice-President Legal Affairs at CGI Inc., I also held the position of Chief Data Protection Officer with international responsibility to oversee the company’s compliance program to the ever evolving and more stringent provincial, national, and international privacy and data protection legislation.Throughout my career, I chaired seminars, authored articles, and delivered speeches on IT, procurement and privacy related issues for various professional organizations. In addition, I was the Canadian editor of an Information Technology Law international newsletter. I am also the author of a book entitled “Le droit des technologies de l‘information au Quebec” published by LexisNexis. The book has been regarded as an essential reference tool for IT lawyers, procurement professionals and any business executive with an interest in IT.
