Currently serving as a Meteorological/Oceanographic Data Analyst with experience creating forecasts for ocean waves and conditions, as well as quality controlling meteorological/oceanographic data. I've also contributed to inter-office policy by creating and updating various Standard Operating Procedures, as well as training newly hired Data Analysts and streamlining reports and presentations that are prepared daily. Finally, I've assisted senior research scientists with various data analysis projects that have been presented at academic/professional conferences.Prior to this, I was a Radio and TV meteorologist with self-taught "radio voice" and camera presence. I had a working knowledge of WSI software, and experience in analyzing both observation maps and model outputs. Routine duties included taking surface observations and creating site specific forecasts for 1-2 days, 1-5 days, and 1-10 days.During graduate school, I was an on-line course instructor and undergraduate lecture course teaching assistant for Atmospheric Science classes, with experience in addressing student concerns, creating assignments, providing additional help with course material, grading coursework, and tracking both student and class progress. For a summer, I also was an assistant researcher for a Crop Sciences Dept. project, tracking the growth of various weeds among farm crops.I obtained my Master's degree in Atmospheric Sciences with a self-made data analysis project. I am self-taught in Principal Component Analysis (a multivariate data analysis technique) and general data analysis techniques. I'm also interested in pursuing similar analysis projects dealing with land-atmosphere interaction data.Specialties: Principal Component Analysis (a multivariate data analysis technique), S-plus (a data analysis program similar to R), MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), WSI (a TV weather broadcast program), MATLAB, SQL, FORTRAN, minimal C++, speaking on radio and camera
