Member of a team developing business intelligence (BI) software. Tasked primarily with leading software quality assurance activities: creating a test automation platform and implementing regression testing.• Developed a test harness (using Java and JavaScript) for driving test cases against a Cognos BI (web-based Ajax) application. Automated the testing process to provide for regression testing complete with output reports on the product status.• Created a test recorder to capture user events performed on the Cognos BI software. The recorded scripts (captured in XML) can be replayed as test cases against the software.• Collaborated on the creation of a test automation process and tool set to automate the integration testing of a multitude of Cognos BI components prior to allowing their promotion into a production ready staging area; implemented a workflow in Jenkins and coded various Java modules.• Managed the build process for the Cognos BI software and assured that the product’s source code was properly stored in source control (Perforce and Rational Team Concert).• Analyzed test outputs and build reports to find problems or inefficiencies. Made or suggested improvements to the development process.• Interacted and coordinated with other teams to ensure that Cognos BI software was properly integrated into the IBM framework. Member of a lab conducting experiments on a selection of regression testing methodologies.• Designed test cases to create the test suite for an industrial software product.• Automated the test suite to test several versions of the software; applied regression testing techniques to the test suite to reduce and prioritize the number of test cases required to cover the code (C and C++) under test.• Evaluated the cost effectiveness of the test suite reduction and prioritization techniques for a variety of code coverage measures.

In a collaborative project environment, designed and implemented control software for a variety of Spirent hardware devices requiring expertise and knowledge of a wide range of approaches. Captured use cases and UI requirements, analyzed controls, and presented interface options in an intelligible manner to end users who were telecom testing specialists.SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS• Designed and implemented GUI controls using C# to call a C++ API using the .NET studio.• Designed and implemented an embedded software control program using C and PHP on a PC/104 running a Linux OS. The software allowed for the control of an optical physical layer impairment emulator via either a web browser or the SNMP protocol. The PC/104 was configured with the Apache web server with PHP support and Net-SNMP.• Redesigned and overhauled a defective software product written in Microsoft Visual C++; the software interacted with Spirent hardware components and an Agilent spectrum analyzer via the IEEE 488 standard.• Proposed and then implemented the re-architecture of existing non-scalable software. This cost saving measure eliminated the frequent need to revise, retest, and re-release the product as modular add-ons could now be deployed without impacting the core software.• Improved the performance of a product involving communications between multiple XScale processors via the TCP/IP protocol; a sequential messaging system was replaced with a 1-to-n implementation to achieve tasks in parallel.• Gained solid reputation with tech support staff for being available/approachable to clarify client issues and to provide instruction on the use of Spirent software. In some casesprovided direct support to the client.• Authored release notes and highly technical user manual entries that were usable in their entirety with very little editing. Produced manufacturing instructions for technicians thatcould be easily followed by all levels of user.
