From 2008: leading a team researchers in the Science Group at middle-management level: prototyping Internet resource related topics & systems, evangelising security principles, public representation of the team and taking care of the group's day-to-day business.In 2011 the group expanded into the company's R&D team which is currently 12 strong. We're building measurement systems such as RIPE Atlas or DNSMON and information systems such as RIPEstat or OpenIPMap and working on prototypes of potential future services, evangelising the NCC's services, and helping the Internet community with measurements and analyses.The team is dealing with active (and sometimes passive) Internet measurements, event analysis, software and service prototyping, "future and past watching", publications regarding TCP/IP, IPv6, BGP (routing), DNS & DNSSEC, SSL/TLS, Internet number resource management, and related network-level topics.Day-to-day activities include budgeting, resource planning, task prioritisation, software & hardware & security architecture discussions and decisions, short, medium and long term planning, internal and external representation, community involvement as well as people (line) management, coaching, nurturing, soul-searching, performance management, and so much more.Involved technologies include SQL/NoSQL, RESTful applications, distributed / fault tolerant designs, APIs and widgets, encryption, authentication, authorisation and auditing, single sign-on, message queues, load balancing, fault tolerant solutions, etc. Applied technologies and frameworks include Linux, OpenWRT, Python, Django, nginx, Apache, UWSGI, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Hadoop, HBase, Thrift, Spark, ElasticSearch/Kibana, RabbitMQ, git/github/bitbucket, Jenkins, and more.

Main tasks: security architecture design and analysis and service prototyping. I was part of a design team for RPKI (resource certification / secure inter-domain routing) services in the early days of the RIPE NCC's involvement, later in the IETF SIDR working group. I worked on protocol design, security evaluation, architectural aspects and the design process around these.

Building and managing public qualified CA (Certificate Authority) services. After being involved in building the whole service (certification + time stamping) from the ground up, I ended up being the manager of the service which involved customer care, operations and service development people, as a part of the larger organisation.

Building and managing e-business services (portals, e-commerce applications). Managing a team of 4-5 developers.
