California Advocacy LLC offers comprehensive public affairs solutions for associations, local governments, and businesses, leveraging its experts in policy and politics to create impactful and comprehensive services that drive results. As Public Affairs Director, I help clients address the media, community groups and the public regarding programs and other current affairs using various media platforms such as newspapers, television, radio and social media. I also research, track, analyze legislation, communicate with government officials and develop strategies to advocate for clients' interests. Additionally, I help clients with their digital advocacy needs, providing digital marketing, videography, graphic design and storytelling to create content that users can share across multiple online platforms and create media strategies that reach the right audience based on geographic location, demographics, interests and other factors.

In this role, I was the lead spokesperson for the Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk, which employs over 250 county employees and has an annual budget of over $30 million. I provided executive administrative support for the elected Assessor-Recorder official and developed and maintained effective relationships with federal, state and local government officials.

I played an essential role in managing, coordinating, and relaying the Member’s voice and viewpoints on legislative issues. I worked closely with the Chief of Staff, Legislative Director, and District Director to develop and execute a coordinated plan to inform constituents and the media on issues that were important to the Representative. I reviewed, drafted, and finalized all statements, press releases, media advisories, and other messaging (e.g., social media) and had direct supervision over other staff on the press team.I also managed a number of issue areas for the Representative that included local government, cyber-security, and education. As lead subject matter expert for these issue areas, I met with constituents to gather information about their concerns and suggestions for new legislation, researching topics related to pending legislation, gathering background information, and preparing analyses of potential impacts to be used for legislative purposes.

I worked directly with the Senator, Capitol Office and District staff, to ensure community stakeholders and advocate input and concerns were addressed. In this role, I provided budget analyses, prepared background materials, talking points, and hearing and floor statements, and accompanied or represented the Senator at community events. I also provided communications and multimedia support by producing a monthly newsletter, social media marketing, and videography for the Senator. In addition, I performed various essential duties such as responding to constituent inquiries, event planning, writing press releases and speeches.

While attending the University of California, I was selected to participate in the prestigious Robert T. Matsui Congressional Fellowship Program where I was given the opportunity to work alongside United States Senate Staff for a duration of four months. As an intern, I assisted U.S. Senate staff with legislative research by attending policy hearings and briefings, responded to constituent inquiries, managed news clips, handled letter signature gatherings for official correspondence, and performed other administrative roles, as required. The program allowed me to gain exposure of the legislative process in the nation's capital.
