I am responsible for maintaining and enhancing the enterprise network at State Fair Community College including all remote campuses. This includes Cisco voice hardware and software, Aruba wired and wireless infrastructure, Fortinet firewalls, VPN, WAN, etc.I work closely with the systems administrator and technical director to plan for and deploy new infrastructure or make improvements to the existing infrastructure with a customer-oriented focus.Recently completed projects include supervision of the installation of a new campus fiber backbone while simultaneously designing and implementing a full network hardware refresh to support gigabit to the desktop and the latest wifi technologies. Other projects during my tenture here have included implementing new firewalls including an ISFW, moving the institution to a default-deny policy for traffic outbound to the Internet, migrating our VoIP system from PRIs to SIP trunks, and assisting with datacenter downsizing. I have also mentored multiple work study and junior admins who are interested in the networking field.

Lincoln University, Jefferson City, Mo

In this role, I took over responsibility of managing about 120 switches and 220 APs campus-wide with a 3-router OSPF core dividing up the campus. The complex VLAN and firewall structure at Lincoln University has been an excellent training ground. Projects I was involved with or completely owned included helping the Systems Administrator deploy new ESX hosts, adding or replacing 1-2 dozen switches including one of the core routers, removing a legacy VLAN that was the native interface for most of our uplinks, upgrading from captive-portal to 802.1x for wireless deployments, designing a true DMZ to meet best-practices for web-servers, and upgrading our VPN to allow client-less access and to use multi-factor authentication. I also spent countless hours working with vendors to troubleshoot and replace failed data and voice hardware. One of the most satisfying accomplishments was when we finally resolved very intermittent VoIP call drops. After months of collecting user reports, logs, and almost 100GB of packet sniffs, we finally were able to capture the issue end-to-end and vendor support was able to provide the engineering knowledge that finally put all the pieces in the right places. I also worked diligently with users and vendors to document, reproduce, and resolve a provider problem in connecting calls to our campus phone system. Some of the projects that were active when I left included designing our next-generation network beginning with a core upgrade and future access-layer upgrades to support emerging wireless technologies. In day-to-day operations, I helped with administering AD and am the backup for several of the System Adminisrator’s responsibilities. I also manage LU’s video surveillance system (Milestone) and currently serve on the Mobile Computing and Media Streaming Subcommittees of Lincoln University’s Technology Committee.

SGHE@State Fair Community CollegeI'm responsible for all things audio/visual at SFCC including video conferencing and equipment checkout. I still do desktop support as well including PC replacement, local printer problems, etc. I am also learning/managing our Cisco NAC system for public internet access (wired and wireless) on campus.

As a Technical Support/Audio-Visual Specialist, I perform a wide-range of tasks. I support users in the classroom or offices who have questions or difficulty operating a piece of equipment. I also perform maintenance tasks according to standards and requests. Most tasks are in response to work orders created in our ticketing system. Students need assistance connecting to our wireless network and I help make sure their computers meet our requirements. As the designated "off-site" tech, I am also responsible for fixing most problems at any of our satellite locations.

Basic carhop duties include taking orders, making drinks, ice cream, setting sacks, and delivering the order to the customer.Side jobs included all resulting cleanup (from previously mentioned tasks) plus regular indoor/outdoor tidying up.As closing carhop I was responsible for performing additional duties associated with overnight preparation as well as being unofficially in charge of remaining carhop or "front" staff.

I developed what started out as a couple of friends asking me to mow their lawn into a full-fledged lawn mowing service that included taking on odd jobs of all sorts, anything to keep the money flowing. And flow it did...in a short couple of years I developed over 100 customers including dozens of regularly scheduled yards. I began hiring various part-time help, but found it very difficult to get good workers. In time I decided to give it up and go to college, and since the business did not have much tangible value, I sold my contact list and information for a modest amount.
