Was a part of a 26-person intern class across many divisions of the company. OneAmerica Financial Partners is a mutual financial services company with nearly 2,000 employees, providing life insurance, retirement planning, and employee benefits for individuals and companies across the United States. As a member of the Investments Division specializing in Commercial Mortgage Loans, I was responsible for the following:Origination: -Comprehensive underwriting and review relating to loan packages-Review of property inspections, appraisals, third party reports, PCAs, Phase 1 environmental documents, etc; -Completion of large retail property inspection under guidance of VP of Loan ProductionPortfolio Management:-Responsible for detailed financial analysis of current commercial mortgage loan portfolio, ranging from $2M to $33M.-Analyzed and monitored originated loans by reviewing credit rating of tenants, tracking problem loans, also communicated with servicing correspondents to update loans and collect updated financial statements-Used submitted financial statements and rent rolls to rate loans from 1-5 based on LTV, DSCR, vacancies, market performance, tenant quality, property inspections, lease terms, et cetera. Our final project included a 75 minute presentation to executives and high-level management..-Daily correspondence with brokers and loan servicing managers from brokerage companies to update and correct loan files-Client facing activities, including trips to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a golf outing, and dining events.

As a tournament coordinator intern, we were in charge of running the golf tournaments. This was everything from setting up, checking kids in, teeing them off, being a rules official out on the course, hosting trophy ceremonies and dealing with parents. There were many important details on the job (you would never believe how much fuss can be caused by not having tees for the golfers on the first tee) that went into the work such as printing roughly 500 scorecards, 500 info sheets, alphabetical lists of players, packets for the employees, trophies, and making sure all supplies were fully stocked for each week's worth of tournaments. As a communicator, I navigated talking to junior golfers at a level that was appropriate for them, as well as the parents of the children, who were often confrontational and quick-tempered. This job taught me valuable skills but was also important to me personally, as the IJGA was something I was a member of for many years as a junior, so it felt good that I give back to the organization that raised me by helping kids and making the same impact they made in my life.
