About Daniel Tan
I am a graduate from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and currently pursuing a M.S. in Artificial Intelligence at The University of Texas at Austin. I work as a manufacturing process automation engineer at Tesla where I support robotic automation processes in the manufacturing environment. My career interests are in the field of AI/Machine Learning. As an engineer, I love solving challenging engineering problems and using technology to aid in problem solving. I'm especially passionate about driving innovation and providing value-add engineering. My prior work and projects have allowed me to develop these skills and more, such as rapid prototyping and design for manufacturability. At Tesla, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to work on the Cybertruck launch program. I coordinated the development of a robotic automation cell in castings and owned the commissioning of the equipment from start to finish. The project was extremely fast paced and required extensive cooperation between machine integrators, process engineering team, and production team in order to successfully implement the equipment and start producing quality product. After commissioning, I defined measures to put in place to improve the overall quality of the process while accounting for the cycle time and continued to support the automation process as needed. I'm passionate about helping others and teaching others what I know. Whenever coworkers may need my assistance, I'm willing to take the time and effort into helping them to the best of my extent. Personally, I thrive the most when it comes to cooperation and working through problems together as a team. I strive to be an engineer that is diligent in their work and always willing to take initiative.Outside of work, I enjoy playing the guitar, bouldering, and hanging out with friends. I strongly believe in pushing myself to try new things and being open-minded in order to continually learn and grow.Specialties: Python, Pytorch, Robotics programming/simulation, CAD, 3D Modeling, Rapid Prototyping, Tolerance Analysis, FEA, Machining, Design for Manufacturability
Listed skills include Solidworks, Matlab, Autodesk Inventor, Autocad, and 10 others.
