iPhD from the Centre for Doctoral Training in Next Generation Computational Modelling. (CDT-NGCM)Researching the links between physical acoustics and psychoacoustics by producing computer simulations of the human auditory system.

As ISVR Academic President I oversee all student representation in the degree programmes offered at the Institute: MEng Acoustical Engineering, BEng Acoustics and Music, BSc Audiology MSc Audiology MSci Audiology MSc Sound and Vibration Studies, Post Graduate Programmes. In my role I liaise with course representatives to ensure the learning objectives of each course are being met, and students are satisfied with the quality of teaching and learning resources available to them. I co-chair Staff-Student Liaison Committee meetings where these issues are discussed and resolved, and report to the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment on any University-wide issues affecting students at ISVR.

MEng Acoustical Engineering - 1st Class Honours

Acoustic Modelling - Using CATT-Acoustic and SketchUp to assess acoustic privacy and disturbance within a large open plan community centre. Modelling the noise impact from roads and railway lines on a proposed housing development using CADNAa, to inform the glazing specification and ventilation strategy. Sound Insulation Testing - End to end responsibility, including on-site measurements, calculation and reporting to ISO standards, client communication and invoicing.Acoustic Design - Calculation and mark-ups for informing façade and internal partition sound insulation ratings. Research - Reviewing the acoustic measurement parameters detailed in Building Regulations and other guidance, and investigating the use of G and C50 in these spaces. Presenting research at Forum Acusticum in Krakow into the difficulties in predicting and measuring the reverberation time in sports halls, and proposing the adoption of G and C50 as alternative measures.

Undertaking research into the application of alternative room acoustic parameters for classroom type spaces, and investigating the effect of using directional sound sources when performing acoustic tests.
