I was responsible for interviewing, hiring, training and supervising the staff of the Future Astronaut Training Program. I wrote the agendas for Levels 1 through 3 of the program, including the scheduling of all theaters, classrooms, and transportation needs for the camps. I rewrote all training classes for the staff, and wrote new class material for the camps, including the implementation of new training software for the classes that captured student responses. I continued as the liaison to the Hutchinson Police Department, where I assisted with training for the Special Response Unit. I continued cooperation with the local police and fire departments to develop an updated map of the facility for use in emergency response planning. I also assisted in the training of the entire facility’s staff with the active shooter policy for the museum developed in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies in my previous role as Community Outreach Manager.

I presented at an international space conference for teachers at Space Center Houston in Houston, Texas from 2000 to 2006, and in 2008. I was a featured panel speaker for the Atchinson, Kansas Amelia Earhart Festival in 2003. I spoke at numerous schools across the Midwest on space topics. I was a featured guest on the international radio show, “The Space Show,” in 2002 and 2007. I was interviewed on numerous occasions for local, state, and national news programs regarding space camps at the Cosmosphere throughout my occupancy of this position.
