I firmly believe that quality education is about so much more than completing assignments, passing exams and achieving desired grades. In fact, I am an advocate of the notion that results printed on a certificate only have any meaningful value if the student has been on a fulfilling journey of a learning process that they have enjoyed, collected lasting memories of and gained an abundance of soft and transferrable skills whilst enriching their personal qualities so that they are both employable and prepared for life’s various challenges.I contribute substantially to this value-added but also essential aspect of education, augmenting thousands of young people’s learning experience in Further Education, including many from disadvantaged backgrounds. I do this through working with employer partners, brokers and personal contacts across a plethora of sectors to organise quality work experience placements and employability activities including workshops, tutorials, guest speaker sessions, enterprise challenges, competitions, career events and visits to employer head offices or typical working environments. I make myself available electronically, virtually and physically to provide guidance to students on anything employability related and my work regularly receives praise from students, colleagues and employers.I pride myself on strong communication, interpersonal skills and deep passion for all things employability, leading by professional example. This includes exercising my ability to work both independently and as part of a team, encouraging students to take responsibility for their learning and future lives as well as making myself as available as possible to provide advice to students as well as support to both internal and external colleagues.
