Consultant
CurrentI offer Kubernetes and cloud-native consulting. I have extensive experience setting up production Kubernetes clusters on all three major cloud vendors as well as on-premises. Over the past five years I have helped migrate several hundred applications to Kubernetes and cloud-native operations. I have worked with all major vendors' CI/CD solutions, developing automated branch deployments based upon git commit/merge operations. With a focus on cluster security, I can help your organization develop a zero-trust network, run-time security monitoring, and advanced strategies, like regular key rotation, for managing secrets utilizing Vault and extensions to Kubernetes. Principal Cloud Operations Developer
Devops/Kubernetes Consultant
I'm a consultant, working through Rekruiters LLC, on contract to Anadarko. I'm working with Anadarko to build out their Kubernetes clusters, their CI/CD pipeline, and assisting their team with building highly available, scalable apps.
Sr Devops Engineer
Consultant (With Genuent Llc)
My role here involves both dev ops work and application development work. I have designed and developed MP2's development and production environments for their Wizard energy pricing system. Development and production environments are deployed to Kubernetes clusters deployed on AWS and managed using kops. The development environment is automatically deployed on checkin as part of our CircleCI continuous deployment system, with feature branches auto-deploying to private namespaces in our development Kubernetes cluster. Both the development and production clusters are auto-scaling clusters, with additional hardware automatically provisioned and deployed when servers are loaded, and automatic de-provisioning when servers are idle. The application development work, also on the Wizard system, is working with a distributed micro-services architecture using RabbitMQ, GraphQL, MongoDB, MySQL, and MSSQL on the back-end and React on the front-end.
Senior Full-Stack Engineer
During my time at Vroom, I designed and developed the company's search algorithm and service, used on the front page of the company's website. The search algorithm included a bespoke recursive descent parser, and included facilities for automatic error correction, car synonyms (e.g. "Volkswagon" or "VW" would return the same results), and indexed a configurable set of car features, from colors to engine details to seating arrangements. The entire service, running in production on a Kubernetes cluster in GCE (Google's cloud), returned results in under 40ms average server time (less time than data spent "on-the-wire" between the client and our servers). I also was responsible for the development and maintenance of our production Kubernetes cluster, running in 3 zones for high availability. All services had no single point of failure, with HAProxy running ingresses and Nginx running internal load balancers. The application code was built in Node/Javascript, with a React front-end. The search engine used a Redis layer for the search engine lookups.
Chief Technology Officer
Consultant - Senior Developer
I wrote .NET software for the upstream oil & gas E&P industry. As part of a research project, we had successful deliveries of multiple reusable components, and provided Proof Of Concept (POC) releases of our software on regular intervals, exceeding expectations and delivering functionality consistently ahead of schedule.
Developer
I supported commodities and power traders, writing and maintaing bespoke software solutions to assist in the gathering and analysis of large data sets.
Senior Developer
I worked with the Commodities Index group, developing and maintaining Merrill Lynch's custom software for managing and monitoring published and custom commodities indices, and the derivatives used to maintain neutral risk exposure for the bank.
Performance Team Lead
I was responsible for the identification, analysis, and resolution of all performance issues relating to BP's nErgize gas trading platform. Notable achievements included the reduction in compute time for BP's company-wide gas trading platform from over 48 hours per run to under 30 minutes. Working closely with the members of my team, we were able to address successfully every performance issue identified as a block for the production release of the software. The nErgize platform was a large, multi-year software development project, with more than 100 software developers working simultaneously for delivery.
