Leading the City of Philadelphia's Software Engineering practice to implement cloud-native technologies to make resident services more reliable, more usable and better supported. Over 3 years, team has grown over 400% through hiring and the OIT Apprenticeship ProgramResponsible for phila.gov, critical applications ranging from our payments middleware (handling more than $1B / year) to the City's Campaign Finance System, GIS applications like atlas.phila.gov and property.phila.gov and much more. Supported City of Philadelphia COVID-19 efforts through launch of web applications focused on testing, vaccination, free food and more.Created and managed a new Cloud Engineering team and provided direction to securely expand usage of AWS across the City as an enterprise-wide platform. Reduced AWS spend by 35% monthly. Conceptualized, planned and implemented the DEI-focused OIT Apprenticeship Program program to up-skill existing City employees via a partner coding bootcamp and place them onto Software Engineering and User Experience teams. Built a project playbook in collaboration with Digital Services organization to successfully deliver web applications across the City following modern product development practices (agile, human centered design, etc.).Conceptualized and launched the City of Philadelphia’s Single Sign On program (login.phila.gov). Through this process, served as project spokesperson to executive leadership, led a cross-functional team to design and build the project, and obtained buy-in from other City agencies to add login.phila.gov to their platforms. Currently in Beta.Authored and implemented City standards around web accessibility, monitoring and alerting and user interfaces for applications.
