I was invited to be Chair of Trustees at the point when the charity was founded and have held the roll ever since. I've been involved in all areas of activity as the charity has grown over the years with more staff and delivering more services to young people in South Yorkshire. The highlights have been when Safe@Last was awarded the Queen's Award and our Founder the M.B.E. in the same year in 2009/10.

The job title did not really cover all the activities undertaken. For example latterly I was responsible for many of the sales relationships on major long standing accounts. Plus recruitment, training, Cap Ex specification, Quality and Environmental standards and production planning.

As Managing Director I had overall P&L and management responsibility for the business with hands on responsibility for many of the main accounts.

I started my life in print as a composing room apprentice with Garnett Print as they were in 1971. Then moved on to Studio Manager, Production Manager, Production Director and finally the role above. During this time we moved from hot metal to litho and then from sheet fed to web, and moved the entire factory out of the town centre of Rotherham. Happy days.......
