Mobile Crane Operator

Mobile crane operator mostly steel erecting, operating a Demag 50T. Short project at the Stanlow Oil Refinery in Ellesmere Port.

Mobile Crane Operator, operating a 50 tonne all terrain Grove. My responsibilities are to ensure all health and safety regulations are met prior to and during the lift. I must ensure the safe load to be lifted safely, based upon weather conditions, the capacity of the crane and the load dynamics to be lifted. Additionally, I am responsible for the inspection and maintenance of my crane to safeguard against any defects or malfunctions. I set up the assembly and final lifting plans during lifting operations. It is imperative that I make effective use of communication, both voice and hand signals to ensure a safe lift.

Europe

• In 2013 I was responsible for setting up three exhibitions; the first for Microsoft and the second for the Range Rover Evoque, then the Lego Movie Tour. All of these exhibitions were held in various destinations throughout Europe. This was a great opportunity to stay in different European cities, meeting new people and experience different European cultures. I also had the opportunity to enhance my driving skills by driving in different European countries for the last 9 months of the tours.

• I worked for City Link on a permanent basis; I prided myself in meeting all my targets and working to set time schedules ensuring I was flexible to meet customer needs. This gave me the opportunity to learn the area very well and I really enjoyed the interaction with City Link customers.

I joined the Army after leaving school as I saw this as an opportunity to learn new skills and gain invaluable life experience. I was deployed to extremely hostile environments during my time in the Army, including Helmand Province in Afghanistan. I learned a huge amount of different skills during my time in the Army and importantly learned life skills such as discipline, team work, loyalty and leadership. This also taught me how to work with people and learn different ways to help people as an example helping to train the local police in Afghanistan.
