Since 2020, I’ve been cutting hair, and it’s taught me so much more than just running a business. Being a barber isn’t just about giving a great haircut; it’s about truly listening and understanding people’s needs. There’s something unique about the barber chair—clients often feel comfortable enough to open up, to be vulnerable in a way they might not be elsewhere. When I notice a client seems down, I see it as an opportunity to go beyond just the haircut. I’ll talk with them, offer advice, or simply listen to lift their spirits. This experience has also shaped my approach to leadership. I’ve had the chance to manage and teach two apprentices when they were starting out, and it wasn’t just about showing them how to cut hair. I wanted them to understand how to build their own brand, market themselves, and really connect with clients.

During my time as a intern at Build Now Studio, I analyzed over 100 properties through extensive market research to identify the most promising short-term rental opportunities in El Salvador and Los Angeles. This involved preparing detailed slide decks to present findings to the CEO and founder, where I provided a summary of recommended deal terms and structuring options for various properties. Additionally, I developed quarterly market trend reports and presentations, which became integral to executive decision-making.This role taught me the importance of a calculated approach in identifying viable investments and presenting data-driven insights that align with the company’s goals. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to travel to El Salvador alongside the CEO to assess properties in person, which significantly enhanced my skills in preparation and adaptability. On this trip, I managed the entire itinerary, made reservations, and ensured all logistics were smoothly handled. This experience taught me to be ready for the unexpected, as it required quick problem-solving and a proactive mindset to address challenges as they arose.
