Ensure maintenance and customer experience activities are carried out safely and in accordance with standards, by co-ordinating and overseeing the various activities within the Maintenance Centre to deliver Fleet availability. Be accountable for maintenance and customer experience output on 24/7 basis in Depot. Manage the day to day running maintenance and liaise with shunting functions for the Maintenance Centre to ensure sufficient rollingstock to meet operational demands. Manage the daily availability of sufficient staff to meet maintenance demands. Manage daily and urgent issues whilst ensuring longer term plans are delivered. Provide, plan and report on rollingstock for TMP and scheduled routine maintenance requirements. Assist in the reduction of maintenance costs and improving productivity through recommending and implementing new methods of work, effective management of costs including overtime and consumables. Continuously seek to improve the quality of inspections, maintenance, repairs, modifications, upgrades and repairs within time frames and budget. Investigate and take corrective action as necessary on in-service failures. Identify alternatives to ensure priorities and deadlines are maintained in the event of machinery breakdown. Develop and sustain a collaborative and harmonious work culture by maintaining regular and robust communication with staff. Manage and coordinate a multi-skilled workforce and associated staff related matters including training, implementation of policies and procedures, leave management, performance management, counselling, attendance verification and rostering to optimise the contribution of staff to productivity. Lead and manage safety compliance to ensure safe work practices are identified and adhered to. Lead VMC meetings with direct reports and ensure VMC practices are consistent with organisational requirements and expectations. Inspect, service, repair and replace numerous mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems including medium and low temperature refrigeration systems and A/C package units. Maintain a sound understanding of the operation and fault modes of every system on board the Xplorer/Endeavour Railcars (both electrical and mechanical) in order to conduct routine maintenance, as well as fault diagnosis and rectification (often under pressure to strict deadlines). Attend to breakdowns in the field when required. Provide fault diagnosis/technical advice to drivers via on-call mobile telephone. Supervise and provide on-the-job training to apprentices and other technicians whilst maintaining efficient turnaround time on tasks in the lift shop.
