Team Leader & Technical DirectorUts Motorsports Jan 2013 - Jan 2014UTS Motorsports represents the University of Technology, Sydney in the Formula SAE (F-SAE) Australasia Competition - an international competition where university students design, fabricate, and race an open-wheeled race car.In 2013 UTS Motorsports placed 9th overall from 23 teams, with a personal best 7th place in the Engineering Design event. I held the Team Leader role, taking central responsibility for leadership, project and technical management. Team Leader - 18 team members- Coordinating a large team of volunteer students, running meetings and acting as a central manager for all members - while also liaising with external stakeholders. Project Manager - 2013 FSAE project- Responsible for the overall running of the project, including keeping track of deadline, budget and resource requirements. Technical Director - UTSM13- Overall responsibility for the design and build of the vehicle. Managing system design integration, tracking performance targets and goals, overseeing the manufacture and structuring the testing program.In addition to this I also had several more specific technical responsibilities, including:- Section management of the Engine and Inputs/Controls sections of the vehicle - overseeing the design of each section- Detailed design of the Pedalbox assembly - including CAD design, Finite Element Analysis, manufacture and assembly- Engine calibration (Motec M400) and dynamometer testing, including commissioning a new dynamometer- Machining and Fabrication - including in-house manual lathe, manual & CNC mill, laser cutting and TIG welding of internally designed parts- Data analysis (Motec i2) - performance and diagnostic, including driver training and training others -
