Served as a senior team member of the project team responsible for supporting the deployed workstation technology within the entire bank footprint. Heavily involved in the testing and deployment of new technology solutions, including operating system and distributed application deployment. For 5 years, I served as a Project Manager for the End User Computing Department. During this time I was the primary Project Manager for our bank wide transitions from Microsoft Windows XP to Windows 7; from Microsoft Office 2013 to Office Pro Plus 2016 (365); from IBM Personal Communications to MicroFocus RUMBA and back to Personal Communications; and I ended with managing coordination for the bank’s transition from Microsoft Windows 7 to Windows 10.

I managed the logistical functions of the wireless (cellular) section. This section serves as the single point of contact for all wireless carriers doing business with Regions Bank, and coordinates all cellular and satellite communications services to associates throughout our sixteen state footprint. Under my management, this section reduced the bank’s wireless overhead costs by an average of more than 20% month-over-month through a more focused inventory management process, and a more organized approach to selecting and managing the plans utilized by our associates.

I served for two years as the IT Procurement Manager for AmSouth Bank. In that position, I managed a staff of 5 associates who were responsible for the day-to-day management of all aspects of procurement from the initial request, through submittal of invoice for payment, including significant input on contract specifications. I was very instrumental in adopting a hardware and software standardization policy, which allowed the bank to realize significant savings in those areas; as well as lowering support costs going forward. Prior to that position, I was the groundbreaking manager for our first internal field support team. That team provided hardware, software, and network support, technical knowledge, and operational expertise to the Birmingham, Alabama technology staff and management of AmSouth Bank. Prior to organizing and staffing this team, I was the primary technical liaison between AmSouth and its contracted field support provider(s). I was responsible for insuring that contract terms and service level agreements were met, and approved all associated payments and credits.

I retired in February 2006 from the Alabama Army National Guard (alguard.state.al.us) as a Chief Warrant Officer Four (CW4) after serving a total of twenty-five years in various positions and units. Almost ten of those years were served in an active duty status; including serving on active duty during Operations Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom. During my career I have managed groups which ranged in size from 12 to more than 90 technical personnel. I was also directly responsible for computer and support equipment that at times exceeded over five million dollars in value. I have served in management positions as a Senior Data Processing Technician, a Senior Automated Supply Technician, and as a Senior Logistics Technician.During Operation Enduring Freedom, I served approximately one year assigned as a procurement agent in Europe and personally managed over three million dollars of procurement funds and supplies in support of combat operations. I coordinated procurement and shipping of supplies with local European companies as well as international procurement and shipment with US companies for supplies as varied as specialty clothing, construction tools and equipment, and electrical and electronic supplies.I was also the co-manager of a warehouse filled with relief supplies valued at over twenty million dollars and staffed with an international contingent of approximately 25 individuals. We were responsible for the coordination between the US Army, US Air Force, other government agencies, our host country, various NATO countries, and our on-the-ground commanders to make sure that these supplies were accounted for and allocated to the right location at the proper time. I conducted weekly classified and unclassified briefings to visiting high ranking members of the US Government, as well as high ranking members of various other counties to explain the status of the entire relief effort, and how our part impacted the overall operations plan.

In support of the Automated Revenue Information System (ARIS), I evaluated current hardware and software, analyzed future systems requirements, studied feasibility of use, monitored technological developments, and made recommendations to management on system procurement and utilization matters. I was Project Coordinator on a project designed to migrate application development efforts from an online IBM 3090 mainframe to a client/server based system. Additional administrative responsibilities in this position included preparing memoranda and other correspondence; writing manuals and instructions; creating lesson plans and other teaching materials; training employees; overall communication with users, department members, and management. I was also required to maintain proficiency in IMS, QMF, ROSCOE, Easytreve Plus, DB2, TSO, COBOL, OS/2, DOS, Windows, and other software systems.
