I'm an award-winning conceptual copywriter, creative director and brand strategist with over 10 years’ experience in the charity sector. I also work as a music writer and critic for places like The Guardian and Vice.As a creative copywriter I’ve worked for some of the UK's leading charities - from Macmillan Cancer Support to the NSPCC - as well as at agencies working on campaigns for world-renowned brands like Warburtons, Onitsuka Tiger and British Airways. I help bring their communications to life in imaginative, creative and powerful ways by simplifying big ideas into attention-grabbing concepts and campaigns.TV ads. Social strategy. Websites. Branding (and rebrands). Whole 360 campaigns. Whatever it is, I come up with creative ideas that cut through and I make sure every word makes a difference. It’s all about thinking differently to make stuff interesting, fun or moving. Most importantly it’s about making it memorable and interesting. Telling the brand’s story in a way that sticks in people’s minds. Because if no one remembers it, no one cares and you’ve failed. I’m currently bringing ideas to life as Comms and Content Manager at CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably). We do things differently, demanding that suicide be given the attention it needs to save more lives. And we use sport, music, comedy and everything in between to get people to reject living miserably and unite against suicide.I’ve also been a freelance music journalist for over 10 years and have written for The Guardian, Crack Magazine, Vice, London In Stereo, The Independent, Time Out, NME and more. I write features, interviews and reviews; telling stories of how albums have come into being, always finding the unusual angle that helps to bring to life what makes the music and the people behind it so special.I’ve written about everything from the future of immersive festivals and the politics of the festival poster, through to how music can help ease grief. I’ve interviewed musicians from Kano, Caribou and Blur, through to Stephen Malkmus, Jenny Lewis and The National. I’ve travelled to festivals around the world and reviewed a lot of amazing (and some really terrible) albums, singles and shows. You can view my work at www.dannywrites.co.uk/
