The purpose of this strategic executive leadership role is to lead the national delivery of ambulance services for Hato Hone St John New Zealand (NZ) and the leadership of circa 5,000 ambulance and support personnel. This includes Emergency Ambulance Services (EAS), Patient Transfer Services (health transport), Ambulance Communications (call handling and dispatch), ambulance volunteering, Clinical Support (Clinical Education, Internship, Clinical Hub, Clinical Desk, Air Desk and tertiary arrangements), Operational Effectiveness (operational performance, Emergency Management, workforce, asset planning and specialist response), Event Health Services, championing of equity through Hauora Māori, leadership of the ambulance service response to crisis, stakeholder engagement, commissioning and government relations. As an adjunct to this role I maintain Critical Care Paramedic authority to practice and regularly work on frontline ambulance.Note that this role was retitled (from Director of Operations) and redefined (expanded to include responsibility for Clinical Support) in September 2020

The purpose of this executive leadership role was to lead clinical strategy and clinical delivery within St John NZ, including the development (and execution) of a Clinical Strategy to support the St John Integrated Business Plan. The scope of the role included strategic leadership of the Medical Directorate, national patient pathways, research, audit, patient safety and quality, clinical education, tertiary and allied emergency service partnerships, moderation, learning media, authority to practise, clinical support, clinical procedures and guidelines (CPGs), and overall clinical effectiveness at St John NZ.After a short tenure in this role, I changed executive portfolios to become Director of Operations (retitled to Deputy Chief Executive - Ambulance Operations) for St John NZ.

This fixed-term role had two primary functions:- To lead the industrial negotiations & relationship between St John and the three unions which represent ambulance personnel, ambulance support personnel and ambulance supervisors/managers. - To lead the design and development of the St John Clinical Operations Workforce Review (a comprehensive review of ambulance operations which enabled an increase in central government funding). These two projects were successfully completed, and I was promoted to Director of Clinical Development within St John NZ.

The purpose of this role was to lead clinical delivery within St John NZ. This included the strategic delivery of clinical education, clinical placement, tertiary partnerships, allied emergency services partnerships, moderation, learning media, internship, authority to practise, clinical support, clinical desk, air desk, the PRIME response framework and clinical effectiveness within ambulance communications. The role participated in the National Executive on-call roster and necessitated maintenance of Intensive Care Paramedic authority to practise.In 2017/16 and 2018 respectively, the role twice extended its coverage on a transitional basis to include responsibility for Ambulance Communications Centres and once extended its coverage to include responsibility for Canterbury Field Operations in 2019 during periods of vacancy in the leadership of these functions. The role also has a leadership role in industrial relations, acting as lead-advocate in bargaining with union colleagues.

The purpose of this role was to ensure St John personnel were enabled to deliver the best possible patient care, by having access to cutting edge education, curriculum, guidelines, consumables and equipment. My focus in this role was establishing relationships with tertiary providers, transitioning from a vocational to tertiary Paramedic pathway, maintenance of the National Diploma in Ambulance, improvement of foundation education for volunteers, and the establishment of a research function and capability for St John.

The secondary purpose of this role was to provide pre-hospital advanced life support, clinical role modelling, leadership and mentoring. As an extension to this role I held a casual position as a Clinical Educator and was a member of two specialist response teams.

The primary purpose of this role was to provide patient care, treatment and transport as part of an emergency ambulance crew. This included working along paid personnel in Christchurch Metro, and as a crew leader on a volunteer emergency ambulance in Lyttelton.

The purpose of this role is to support tactical response to fire / rescue / medical incidents as part of the Sumner Volunteer Fire Brigade. As a Senior Firefighter, the role provides primary support to the officer in charge of the appliance, while also acting in a mentoring/leadership capacity for other firefighters at incidents and during training. Owing to my previous experience within the Rolleston Volunteer Fire Brigade, and because I have met the qualifications required to be a Station Officer, as needed I also ride as Officer In Charge where needed.

The purpose of this elected volunteer role is to enable the overall effective operation of the Australasian Road Rescue Organisation, as part of the Executive, and in support of the President. The role involves stakeholder relations across sponsors, allied emergency services and support agencies across Australasia. The key challenge for this role is helping to maintain the viability of this volunteer organisation through the ongoing COVID pandemic.

The purpose of this volunteer role is to mentor, assess and role model the role of the Paramedic in road crash rescue. This includes working with personnel from emergency services across Australasia to facilitate annual road crash rescue competitions.

The purpose of this elected volunteer role was to lead the development of Paramedicine within road rescue across Australasia. This involved leading patient advocacy within the Technical Committee of the Australasian Road Rescue Organisation, and coordinating the medical aspects of the annual Australasian Rescue Challenge in either Australia or New Zealand. This included:- Acting as a subject matter expert for all aspects of Paramedicine as it relates to road rescue- Coordinating/writing the medical aspect of the Road Rescue scenarios- Coordinating the medical keynote speaker and medical practical at the ARRO Learning Symposium- Managing medical stakeholders as and when required- Coordinating the CPR challenge. - Assisting with the coordination of patients/moulage and the Trauma Challenge alongside the Trauma Challenge Coordinator.- Advocating for the patient to be at the centre of everything we do.
