Senior Consultant
CurrentWith Dotmatics I sell, implement and deliver data integration, query and visualisation solutions to companies of all sizes around the world. I work with informatics and IT departments at many large biotech companies to maximise the value of research data generated by chemistry and biology teams by assisting in deployments of Vortex, Browser and the rest of the Dotmatics software suite. I have assisted in the fantastic growth of Dotmatics from six people when I joined to over 250 in 2021. My role has evolved into a mixture of software development and customer facing consulting.I am currently working on extending the Dotmatics chemistry toolkit code to support richer molecular representations (enhanced stereochemistry) and AI/ML methods.I travel to customer sites world-wide (India, China, US, Singapore, Japan, Europe, Australia/NZ) where I provide on-site consulting. This requires me to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a wide variety of teams with different nationalities in order to achieve common objectives. I build integrations against many third-party softwares which has resulted in a good technical working knowledge of a wide range of tools used in the drug discovery industry.I am the original implementor of many algorithms found in Vortex such as super-structure searching, matched-pair analysis, chemical property calculation and clustering. I assist customers with and extend the Vortex API to help IT groups deploy Vortex as a software platform to their local teams of scientists.I have contributed to other parts of the Dotmatics software in a range of programming languages including but not limited to Oracle Cartridge improvements (C/OCI), iPad/iPhone applications (C/Objective-C (e.g. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/elemental/id518655328)), SOAP clients (Python and PL/SQL), RESTful clients (Python), novel data visualisation (Java) and plate-based screening normalisation routines for data from robotic handlers (Python/SQL).
