I currently work in the global account management department, on a team that manages the legal matters of a flagship client from start to finish. From collaborating with compliance and conflicts teams to ensure matters are opened smoothly, to managing the spend and scope of 1000+ matters, and producing monthly balance sheets and financial statements to offices/practice groups around the world. I also work on resolving internal debt through weekly meetings with a senior partner, improving cash-flow within a complex billing arrangement across 30+ international offices against tight deadlines. I also help manage larger, sometimes multi-jurisdictional legal projects, and cooperate with fund accountants and fee earners to ensure these are completed within budget and on time. I have an interest in improving operational processes, and I am currently automating various excel reports using VBA. This role has strengthened my collaborative problem solving skills, and my active cultivation of cross-departmental relationships has helped me to foster client service/operational excellence.

I played a crucial role in the transition to a new practice management system. This multifaceted role required effective communication with various practice groups across the world and professionals at all levels, from billing staff to senior partners. I successfully addressed teething issues during the system transfer and presented results to senior partners confidently and succinctly. Furthermore, I assumed responsibility for implementing more complex rate updates for the firm's largest clients. This role combined excel and problem solving to provide large volumes of accurate work against very tight deadlines. Within 3 months, I was internally promoted to a permanent position at the firm by the global account management team.

At Hugh Gaitskell Primary School, I supported year 6 on a temporary basis with their preparation for SATs. My role involved working 1:1 or in small groups with children to revise and improve their maths skills. This involved preparing and delivering tailored exercises on a variety of mathematical topics, alongside keeping track of the assessment scores and progress for the whole of year 6 using excel. This role also involved working with children from a variety of backgrounds and first languages, many of whom do not have access to extra support at home. Using my experience to make a difference to children's lives in this way means a lot to me, and I enjoyed contributing to a vibrant and welcoming school community.
