Discovered that both A- and B-type lamins can bind F-actin but only A-type lamins can crosslink actin filaments, a function that is disrupted by progeria-causing mutations. Identified novel SUMO post-translational modification sites on lamin A that are disrupted by mutations associated with familial lipodsytrophy. Mapped binding domains of emerin on lamin A. Identified novel O-GlcNAc post-translational modification sites on lamin A, which are disrupted progeria-causing mutations.
