My entire career has been dedicated to expanding my competence across different functional areas and industrial sectors, leveraging my love for learning and a strong dose of courage and entrepreneurship. I have never refrained from taking over complex turnaround and implementation projects, since I strongly believe that resilient managers can only emerge from situations where hands-on experience can be gained. I have created several teams and I am happy to say that many of their members have enjoyed success, in their later professional experiences.I started by gaining a degree in Economics & Finance with honours and leveraged my dissertation to win a scholarship that allowed me to attend Columbia Business School. After my MBA, I decided to join McKinsey, where I gained both a strong vertical experience in the insurance and banking industries and a solid experience in Operations and IT topics. This culminated in launching the Italian Branch of the then Business Technology Office of McKinsey, an incredibly successful venture. In the following years, I have pursued a career in Insurance, where I have gained a truly 360° experience, covering all key Lines of Business and Functional Areas. I have been exposed both to business-building and turnaround situations, gaining invaluable experience in sometimes complex situations.Pushed by a desire to live more in my adoptive town, I have chosen to join Alitalia, embarking in one of the most challenging turnaround situations that Italy offered, further complicated by the post-2008 depression. There, I have had the opportunity to further push my professional boundaries, turning my interest in aviation into a profession.I have finally joined IBM, enticed by the challenge of rebuilding its Financial Services Sector and fulfilling and old desire of mine: re-creating a business. Overall, I have enjoyed significant success and this experience opened the opportunity to go back to Allianz, my Alma Mater in the Insurance sector. In Allianz Technology, I am bringing together all that I have learned so far, in high tech (e.g., how to design and deliver a product, etc.) and insurance. Here, again, I am heavily engaged into both turning around existing offerings and developing new ones.Recently, I have become a Business Angel, helping start-ups as “Co-COO” and have launched a seminar on „Managing IT as a business, in the modern corporate environment”.What next? Frankly, I do not know. What I know is that I will continue to use my innate curiosity to pursue new challenges.

Senior LecturerUniversità Degli Studi Di Milano Apr 2022 - PresentMilano, Lombardy, ItSenior Lecturer for the Dipartimento di Scienze Politiche e Sociali. Holding multiple workshops, the main one dedicated to "Managing IT as a Business, in the Modern Corporate Environment". The workshop focuses on 1) Designing and running successful IT Programs, 2) Within the boundaries of “normal” corporate environments and 3) Responding to specific business needs, as articulated in a stated strategy. The “average” Corporate Executive/Citizen refrains from engaging in most IT-intensive initiatives, leaving them in the hands of “experts”. Even worse, whenever the internal IT expertise is not deemed trustworthy, IT programs are outsourced to external contractors. More often than so, the combination of both trends results in a waste of financial and human resources, due both to badly designed/run projects and lost opportunities for properly leveraging IT to solve critical business issues. Plus, the vast majority of the externally run programs generate a sizable loss of intellectual property that would create additional competitive advantage, if developed and maintained in-house.This seminar is designed to prepare professionals with a non-specialist background to effectively manage/leverage IT in the modern enterprise. By the end of the syllabus, the participants should have achieved: 1) a basic understanding of what IT is about; 2) a grasp of how to design IT-centric offerings and operations/platforms; 3) a practical, hands-on vision on how to design and run an IT program. In other words, these professionals should feel comfortable in using IT to support the operational and strategic needs of the modern enterprise. -
Executive | Simplifi Program | Global It Lead For The Financial Data PoolAllianz Technology Jan 2022 - Mar 2024Unterföhring, Bavaria, DeSimpliFi is our most ambitious analytics program, yet. The Data Pool is being built using Data Vault 2.0 approaches and leveraging Agile methodologies to their fullest extent. The Finance Data Pool will be deployed on our Global Data Platform, which is being evolved to its second generation (GDP 2.0) and deployed on leading cloud platforms.
