For over 40 years in the financial services arena, I've had the pleasure to meet a lot of people, rich and not so much; financially sophisticated and some less so; who had no sources of advice or who were surrounded by advice providers.In most situations I found their dilemma was - How do I figure out if I need to do something about my situation, how do I decide what to do and will I actually be able to understand it all?Their advisors sometimes had a somewhat similar challenge, having clients to whom they provided advice, but who did not take action on the advice diligently given. I founded DTM Financial Guidance Inc. in the hope of changing that experience, from one of confusion and, sometimes conflict, to collaboration and counselling.We look for the "gap". The unmet space between two situations: where the client is now and their desired outcomes.The first is the Who and What - who is involved and what do they own and owe. The “stuff”.The second is the When, where, why, and how. The motivation.We want to be "The Financial GPS" to advisors and clients.There are many ways to get from where you are now to where you need and want to be.We provide advisors and their clients with integrated analysis of all planning options, comparative analysis of how each works and a full written Discovery Agreement to show how the plan integrates with their family and business.We deal solely with what clients need to do to bridge the “gap” and work to find the most efficient way to achieve their goals, so the client is comfortable moving forward on their personalized plan of action.
