His life's mission is to do everything he can to improve the lives of those with mental health issues. He is a "peer support" worker, i.e. one with lived mental health experience helping others similarly impacted, as peer operator for the Pathways Vermont Support Line and as Outreach Coordinator of peer services for the VT chapter of National Alliance on Mental Illness ( https://namivt.org/support/peer-support-groups/ ). As a volunteer, he trains facilitators and is lead facilitator of NAMI peer support groups at VT Psychiatric Care Hospital and Central VT Medical Center as well runs the NAMI VT Central VT Affiliate. As an advocate, he serves on Department of Mental Health advisory committees including the Adult State Program Standing Committee on Mental Health and federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Block Grant Planning Council.
