Profile bio

About Dan Tuuri

I am a creative problem solver with an insatiable curiosity for understanding the “why” behind every question. This constant pursuit of knowledge has fostered a lifelong learning mindset. I thrive on diving deep into new subjects, whether through research, articles, or designing my own experiments. My passion for computing began early, starting with my family’s Commodore 64. This love for technology grew as I transitioned through DOS, Windows 2.x, and other desktop operating systems. My world expanded further when I discovered Gopher and ventured into Xenix, BSDI, and Slackware networked systems. After high school, I immediately entered the workforce, starting with maintaining and deploying desktop images and providing break-fix services at a local university. I quickly advanced to an IT Manager role, supporting around 200 users. My career progressed as I launched my own business with four full-time employees, before returning to IT consulting and management roles.Returning to school as an adult learner with industry experience in my mid-twenties highlighted the importance of quality education and creating a classroom environment that mirrors the workplace. For fifteen years, I taught IT, Security, and Project Management courses, developed curricula, supervised, and trained other faculty. My teaching experience spans high school, college, university, and adult education settings.Today, my focus is on the human side of cybersecurity, assessing programs, and developing system controls. Navigating how we can identify and determine the appropriate level of security protection, while minimizing adverse impacts from security postures that interrupt business flow. Ultimately my goal is to help organizations maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of their data and systems.

Listed skills include Networking, Security, System Administration, Network Administration, and 11 others.
