Our research group's objective was the advancement the basic science behind hearing aids and voice recognition software. Both need, but are currently unable, to function robustly in noisy environments. By analyzing and modifying human speech sounds through short-time Fourier transforms and conducting hearing tests on human subjects, we were able to make a definite contribution to the fields of speech recognition and eldercare (hearing aids) through publications in relevant scholarly journals.
