I ensure ACCES’ operations function smoothly and demonstrate accountability, transparency, value for money, fairness and due diligence. My portfolio includes governance and Board relations, policy, risk management and oversight of the Procurement and Admin Team. Special projects including leading the development and implementation of a hybrid service delivery model.

I support non-profits design and measure success by developing strategic clarity and effective learning, and better measuring and telling the story of their impact. Most recent projects include developing an evaluation framework, learning agendas, and theories of change in the innovation and environmental sectors.

Reporting to the CEO:Provided research, executive advice, insight and problem-solving to the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors to ensure effective and evidence-based decision-makingSuccessfully led OTF’s government relations strategy through four ministers in one year. As a result, OTF is well-positioned as an important government partner in building strong communities, and received sustainable annual funding of $100M Integrated business planning across all units to include more staff and stakeholder input resulting in greater strategic and operational alignment throughout the organization, from annual planning, operational execution, and project management to reporting to management, the Board, and government on key performance indicatorsIn response to an unintended decrease in OTF’s annual funding to specific demographic communities, initiated and coordinated three task forces to engage stakeholders to identify potential barriers to funding. Implemented an action plan which successfully increased the percentage of funding to each group (LGBT2Q, Indigenous, Francophone) to OTF’s targets within one year. As a result, also co-lead the development of OTF’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and have played a pivotal role in the organization’s commitment to reconciliationTo ensure a high-functioning and accountable organization, monitored organizational progress towards strategic objectives; led the policy and governance portfolios for the Board; directed the implementation of the Foundation’s enterprise risk management program and oversaw compliance with legislation and regulatory requirements. As a result, OTF has a sterling reputation for accountability and transparency with government and the public

Reporting to the VP of Measurement, Evaluation and Learning:As a result of feedback from applicants, stakeholders, and most notably the Auditor General of Ontario (2011), OTF recognized the need for a more focussed and transparent investment strategy. I played a lead role in designing the new investment strategy and balanced score card, including leading the cross-province consultation with stakeholders, working with a team of six to develop the priority areas of focus for our grants, and ensuring grant results were able to measure the impact of our granting over time. As a result, in 2015 OTF undertook the biggest change to our granting since 1999 by launching the New Investment Strategy. The Foundation is now able to measure its impact and demonstrate its value to the government and other stakeholdersIn response to seeing a number of excellent studies “gathering dust,” transformed our research and evaluation agenda to focus on actionable knowledge—making sure the evaluations contribute to strategic discussions and have an impact on granting practice; also introduced emergent learning at OTF and among grantees, to provide real-time feedback to improve organizational practices; introduced developmental evaluation to support better outcomes for social innovation projects. As a result, advanced the theory and practice of learning and evaluation at OTF, and indirectly in the not-for-profit sector in Ontario

Designed, implemented and evaluated health promotion projects for affected communities, peer educators, and service providers. Of note: I initiated a needs-assessment and series of focus groups among long-term volunteers and led the team that designed programming to respond to that need. Our evaluation of this project became the basis for a presentation to a national symposium on HIV/AIDS in 1999.
