In addition, as the AVID coordinator I work with students to develop the skills necessary for success in college and create a college going culture on campus. As the leadership teacher I organize and facilitate school wide events and fundraising. Certified by Oakland Unified School District to teach Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) courses.

Led an intensive program training for a group of 8 pre-service teachers to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to qualify as an intern teacher. In doing so, performed in class teacher observations, conducted coaching meetings, and debrief conversations. As the Dominican intern of the Panetta Institute, I worked in the congresswoman’s D.C. office and researched national education issues and their influence on California’s 9th district. In addition, I performed standard intern duties such as guiding tours, answering phones, reception, and responding to constituent requests and correspondence.
