This is a full service 24/7 specialty and emergency hospital that partnered with the veterinary general practice community to provide comprehensive pet care. My role was to develop the veterinary staff and define the hospital within the community as the key referral source in the Conejo Valley area.

Managed a full service 24/7 specialty and emergency hospital that collaborated with the veterinary general practice community to provide comprehensive pet care. I was intentionally recruited by the Regional Director with the purpose to reestablish the main hospital in Brentwood which required a restructure of support staff and services; in addition to overseeing 3 satellite hospitals in different counties. Directed and lead a staff of 50 employees in addition to 10 veterinarians.Key results and responsibilities:Recruited to rebuild Brentwood hospital location. Was an established hospital that needed restructure of support staff reevaluation of veterinary services and doctors. • Accomplished the renovation, build out, and relocation of a new facility in 2014. This process included permits with local municipalities, coordination with contractor, and overall design of floor plan and internal ….• Developed and documented written operational policies and protocols, which resulted in continuity and efficiency, while reducing expenses. • Developed and implemented systems to recruit technical and administrative talent; minimizing staff turnover, and reduction of recruiting expenses. • Implemented and executed internal audit controls of various departments to determine operational efficiencies and impact to bottom line.• Increased Blue Pearl branding in the referral community, by improving the relationships and delivering on the promise to our referral community. Identified and created a newly formed referral manager position to provide a positive face in the community.• Responsible for hospital annual budget development and monitoring of results. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding budget each year.

Managed a full 24/7 Hybrid practice, including Specialty, ER, General Practice, Rehabilitation, and Boarding and Daycare center. Supported a campus of 30,000+ SQ FT, including 40 DVM’s, and staff of 180. Started with a hospital under $4M in revenue and grew to over $20M during my tenure. Streamlined internal HR processes and operational structures in a rapidly growing and highly competitive environment. Key results and responsibilities:• Repositioned and re-launched brand (2003). Lead creation and execution of business plan with hospital principal. This includes the challenges of filming Animal Planet at this facility.• Contributed to double-digit growth in competitive market for four consecutive years. • Reporting directly to the CEO/owner, provided guidance and counseling on all HR and operational issues.• Developed training opportunities and lead all areas of Human Resources including developing and promoting a strong leadership team designed to efficiently lead the hospital. Additionally, experienced a reduction in recruitment expenses, lower turnover, and implemented process changes to save time.• Implemented a comprehensive employee benefit program for medical, dental, 401K, Life, LTD, and STD insurance policies. • Analyzed and evaluated payroll systems, with proven results in selecting an appropriate payroll platform.• Lead the company through a difficult acquisition in 2007 to VCA Antech, which resulted in minimal staff attrition, and the most successful acquisition to date in the history of VCA. This effort was in addition to my regular duties as HR Director/Hospital Director.• Increased revenue streams and built sustainable relationships by referral sources in the community.
