Dariusz Lachowski is a Research Fellow at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). He works on mechanisms of cellular mechanotransduction, extracellular matrix mechanical/biochemical signalling, magnetoactive polymers and development of novel biomimetic substrates for tissue engineering.Dariusz received PhD in bioengineering at Imperial College London. His doctoral studies were focused on discovering novel mechanotransduction signalling pathways in hepatic and pancreatic stellate cells. He applied a variety of model in vitro system to recreate microenvironment associated with healthy tissue, cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and pancreatic adenocarcinoma. He was a Co-I on a project funded by Innovate UK that allowed Dariusz to translate his academic expertise in bioengineering into biotechnology industry, developing self-assembling peptide matrices as a platform for cell biology studies.
