Zoocasa is a Canadian real estate search web site owned by Rogers Communications. I'm involved in every aspect of the technology side of things, but my primary interests are in spatial processing. I designed pretty much all of the spatial search and display components of the site from the spatial database back end to the clustering algorithms to the Google Maps interface and all sorts of stuff in between. I was sort of in a CTO-ish position there for a number of years in terms of responsibilities if not title as we didn't have any fancy C-level titles for years. Magic Lantern pioneered some crazy online video delivery technology that at the time was pretty unique and innovative. We were probably one of the few outfits in the world in 2001 that could stream video via the public Internet at VCR-quality levels and were partnered with some interesting players like Disney, the Discovery Channel and TLC. Eventually there was an implosion and MLG was no more, but it was fun while it lasted.
