The National Heritage Program established the protocols and procedures that would be applied to the US Mint collections nationwide. In my position as a Collections Specialist my duties were to catalogue multiple objects held at the Washington, DC headquarters. Working with a photographer, my role was to update and add to the records within the US Mint’s collection management system e.g. The Museum System (TMS).

Protected and cared for domestic and international loans of assigned exhibits. Secured loans through contract negotiations, certificates of insurance, indemnity, and international shipping logistics. Oversaw unpacking, conservator’s condition evaluation, and installation of artwork. Conducted biweekly condition checks. Developed budgets and assessed logistics and timelines for future exhibitions.

Managed care, storage, and preservation of collection including 2,000+ works of art and thousands of materials from O’Keeffe’s studios, historic homes, archives, photographs, and libraries. Implemented safe and efficient mechanisms for handling items for 40 exhibit installations. Managed exhibit budgets.Conducted inventory and worked with auditors. Completed over 30 domestic and international courier trips. Assisted in development of emergency plans to mitigate risk of transit and other vulnerabilities. Conducted bi-weekly exhibition checks, artwork condition assessments, integrated pest management (IPM), light level and security mount evaluations, and reporting.Select Accomplishments:• Opened all 40 exhibits on time. Oversaw teams of four to ten art handlers to unpack, layout, install, light, and open exhibits. • Doubled amount of GOKM collection available to public by digitizing documents and media-based works. Enabled on-time completion of cataloging all photography acquisitions and 15,000 objects found within Georgia O’Keeffe’s two historic homes. • Ensured proper coverage of collection by securing certificates of insurance for GOKM’s permanent collection and domestic and international loans. • Entrusted to solely represent GOKM on shipping and transit arrangements 19 of 40 exhibits.• Launched and maintained software supporting virtual exhibit with developers.
