CurrentWe are an app-based, volunteer driven program working to feed people, not landfills. By keeping food out of the landfill, we are protecting our environment - while we feed our community.*Began operating in Detroit in June 2019. We serve Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, and Genesee counties. To date we have kept more than 9 million pounds of food from the landfill. *In March 2021 we were able to hire our second paid team member as a part-time Site Coordinator with grant funding from Gannett Foundation/USA Today Network.*In October 2021 we will complete our pilot project in NW Detroit known as Community Food Hub: Five Points. The hub is a 20 FT shipping container fabricated to provide a walk in cooler, freezer, and dry storage space to a partner receiving agency so they can better serve their community by having greater cold storage capacity.*In June 2023 we rescued over 12,000 lbs of food from the Detroit Grand Prix. We are determined to help make Detroit events waste-free!
