Darrell Adams is a native of North Carolina began his emergency service career in 1991 when he joined Angier Black River Fire Department. In 1993 he helped develop and organized what was to become the Harnett County Underwater Search & Recovery Dive Team. He retired 2023 from the position of Captain for Dive Team of Angier Fire Department. 1998 Mr. Adams was hired by the City of Raleigh as a firefighter. While working for the Raleigh FD he has been temporally assigned several times to the training division to help develop recruits for active service for the City of Raleigh. Mr Adams current position is Captain on Engine 21 which is the Speical Operations Water Rescue Station. He is also a member of NC Task Force 8 Urban Search & retired member of NC Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team (HART)(Retired 2022) . He has obtained an associate degree in Fire Protection Technology from Wilson Technical Community College. He hold NC OSFM instructor ratings for Live Fire, LP Gas, Hazardous Materials, Technical Rescuer (General, Vehicle Extrication, Rope, Confined Space & Water). Mr. Adams has obtained various diving certifications to which include: SDI/TDI/ERDI/FRTI Instructor Trainer & SSI Pro 1000 Instructor. He has over 10,000 hrs of training as a public safety servant and has logged over 4000 dives to which close to a third have been in the public safety environment or blackwater situations. He has also served as a board member at large for the NC Public Safety Diving Association.
