Current path: continue Net+ with Cisco CCNA then Cisco CCNP Routing & Switching. Goal: Network EngineerI started my career 1996 in the Navy with the electricians mate nuclear program. I got training in chemistry, physics, heat transfer/fluid flow, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and nuclear power science.I attended a year at DeVry University in electrical engineering, about Aug 2001 to Nov 2002. After this I received a job in electronic assembly at an avionics radar company in Overland Park, KS. I worked several miscellaneous electronic and electromechanical assembly positions up to about October 2011. I received an electronic assembly job that included SMT robotic placement training and wave soldering technologies in Bonner Springs, KS.After this job in 2012 I got a position at an amusements & entertainment company in Lenexa, KS that provides cashless systems to arcades and amusement parks across the US and some international parks, including some cruise ships. It was here that I transitioned from pure electronic tech into IT tech slowly over the next 8 years. The nature of my role, electronic board level repairs to start, required knowledge of the software to really efficiently diagnose and repair the boards. I worked with the engineers and developers to solve problems and formulate patches to fix bugs or add new behaviors, eventually learning Linux bash scripting to assist with the rollout of new product that was Linux based. As this progressed, I eventually learned how basic networking works and assisted with minor racking and configuration tasks to support the production center.Covid ended this job as it was entirely entertainment based. I found myself in a pure IT role from there at a small MSP in Belton, MO. I worked there for about 2 years, transitioned to a larger MSP that handles small K-12 school districts that cannot afford permanent IT staff. Here I worked closely with students to solve minor day to day issues as well as monitoring MDF and IDF equipment, troubleshooting network issues, wireless connectivity and other widely varying field IT tasks. When this position ended I found myself homing at The Purple Guys following a short period of free lance work. I arrived there in a state of readiness to take the Comptia N+ exam, then got it. I plan to continue this path with Cisco CCNA then Cisco CCNP Routing & Switching. Network data center management is the direction I plan to follow, I feel I've found a good final home here at the Purple Guys and Ntiva company.
