As a Research Administrator my responsibilities include pre- and post- award management of sponsored projects. I currently manage 12 Investigator portfolios that include basic research grants and clinical trial agreements. My duties include being the primary point of contact with the offices of Clinical Trials Administration, Contracts and Grants, Department of Neuroscience as well as other sponsored projects offices outside the University to ensure timely processing of documentation and submission of grant applications according to agency guidelines. Other duties include financial oversight of all transactions related to funded projects and communicating with PI’s and agency sponsors (i.e. NIH, Simon’s Foundation).

Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar

Responsible for the oversight of all Research Laboratory Operations and the Basic Laboratory Support Core. In this role I worked closely with the Associate Dean of Research, Director of Research Administration and Facilities Management at WCM-Q. I served on the procurement working group for the Supreme Council of Health for improvement of the procurement processes in Qatar. Other duties included assisting the training team with the implementation and updates to training programs for Qatari Nationals and Research Specialists, managed all research related space, websites and provides financial oversight to the institutions research cores (Basic, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Clinical Research, Genomics, Imaging, microRNA, Proteomics and Vivarium) as well as the development of core rates.Additional responsibilities included managing project plans for all research related projects, working with Environmental Health Safety and Security department to ensure departmental and employee compliance. Participated in team effort to improve the institutional tracking of assets and helped the Finance Department improve the tracking of equipment service contracts within SAP that served to eliminate lapses in coverage and apply expenses appropriately during the grant/fiscal year.

As Supervisor I was the main point of contact between the Research Operations Manager, Department Chairman and the Division of Neurology Research. I also act as liaison between senior Research Administration leadership and the divisions Principal Investigators. My responsibilities included overseeing the daily operations of the Neurology Research Division and pre- and post-grant award support for all investigators within the division. These duties include reviewing grant proposals pre- and post- submission to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Arizona Biomedical Research Commission (ABRC), Barrow Neurological Foundation and other research funding organizations, development of annual operating budgets, budget analysis and monitoring of investigator awards to ensure grant funds are expensed as per budget and compliance with the sponsors regulations and guideline. Other daily activities included approving and reviewing expenditures, creating reports, generating forecasts, and interfacing with the departments of human resources, payroll, purchasing research accounting and finance.
