CurrentDarrell serves on the Strata-G Team at ORNL and is Lead of UT-Battelle’s Operational Planning function in Laboratory Waste Services. He formulates plans, strategy, and budgets for on-site staging; and off-site treatment, and disposal of hazardous, low-level, mixed, and transuranic (TRU) waste. He developed rationale and criteria to transition DOE Environmental Management facilities managing newly generated waste at ORNL to DOE Office of Science mission program. He coordinated the DOE Site Office review and issue of UT-Battelle’s current "Radioactive Waste Management Basis and Work Smart Standards for DOE Order 435.1 Radioactive Waste Management". He provided waste forecasting and cost estimating support for the development of “ORNL Legacy Material Inventory Estimate in Support of Integrated Facilities Disposition Project”. Further, he participated in the development of the process used by UT-Battelle to track staging clocks and monitor timeliness of waste pickups from generator staging areas, thereby minimizing on-site storage requirements. From November 2003 to October 2004, Darrell functioned as Waste Services Representative Team Lead for UT-Battelle Laboratory Waste Services Organization, in which he provided resource planning, allocation, and prioritization for provision of purchased waste management services.
