As an experienced technical leader, I oversee the delivery, change, support, and service for automation, WCS, and WMS across multiple fulfilment sites across UK/US. This role involves managing both third-party providers and in-house development teams, including • Delivery: Roadmap planning incorporating functional and non-functional priorities • Service : Definition and review of change, incident and problem management• Supplier management • Stakeholder management (Internal and external)• Application support team accountability• Budget administration and contract consultation• Accountability for compliance and any audit actions Coming from a background of development from graduate trainee to rise to lead engineer in mainframe development, I have first-hand demonstrable experience in all aspects of E2E delivery from analysis, requirements gathering through solution design and specification, delivery, testing and support. I believe this gives me an insight into individual roles and the challenges and competing agendas that they face. My experience in both in house and 3rd party delivery of WMS/WCS solutions also offers an opportunity to ‘talk the same language’ as both the 3rd party and business partners building bridges between the two. I look to foster good relationships, and have collaborated on solution designs with the 3rd party to improve the final delivered product, and in some cases, had those design ideas incorporated back into their core product.A subset of previous projects delivered wholly or substantively include opening warehouses built using inhouse and 3rd party solutions. I have also designed solutions around customer returns crediting, warehouse aspects of customer fulfilment via depot, pallet retrieval logic, warehouse item sortation and supported of design with 3rd parties on mech solutions on returns storage and pick.I believe in setting a clear R&R framework, goals and objectives to give people the opportunities to take personal responsibility within a supported and safe environment. I look to minimise friction wherever possible, and encourage fairness, respect and transparency. I feel that the best engineers are those who understand not just the technology. They also understand the domain – understand the why, and understand each other! This empowers all to live in a state of curiosity, safe challenge and being part of something bigger. This ultimately gives the win-win of a more fulfilling working experience and a better product!
