I am a passionate, innovative and experienced leader and change manager. I have managed to collect qualifications in leadership, mental health and psychology, and have led large-scale health projects and organisations in England and New Zealand. A while ago someone kind said this about me: “A strategic thinker and experienced manager of change in different settings, Darryl has a track record of getting things done. In all roles Darryl has demonstrated that he can identify when a new direction is needed, outline a successful strategy for this to key stakeholders, and then take people on the journey through productive change. Driven by a desire for social justice, Darryl wants to change the way New Zealand, and the world, responds to social issues such as mental health and addiction.”I am currently the Group CEO of Ember - Korowai Takitini, an exciting NGO which I helped to create in 2019, and which is leading the conversation in the mental health, addiction and intellectual disability sector. Ember is built on principles of innovation, social justice and working hard to support those most in need. I am incredibly proud of Ember’s place in the world and leading the establishment of such an awesome group of entities is my career highlight so far. I am committed to bringing a youthful focus to the work of Ember, and the sector in general, driven by a belief in young people and in supporting them to create the world they want to see. A proud kiwi and happily in New Zealand since 1999, working in exciting roles for government and NGOs. Equally proud of my roots in northern England and want to make the most of the opportunities given to me by the graft of my parents and grandparents.
